Our little octopus celebrated her first semi-aware Hallowe'en yesterday. Things began when Mommy served up a batch of that breakfast favorite, yogurt:
That was followed by a special bath in appropriately-colored water:
Lastly, we joined the Ivys for a trip to the most insane trick-or-treating neighborhood of all time. It was like those streets/neighborhoods at Christmas where everyone goes all-out with the decorations and there are guided tours for gawkers - but for Hallowe'en/trick-or-treating. I'm talking hundreds of families from all over Portland (maybe that's why we've never gotten more than half-a-dozen kids at our home in years past) lining up at houses with fog machines and Costco-sized buckets of goodies.
Boo's octopus costume went over gangbusters. She really enjoyed herself, held onto her pumpkin-shaped candy basket throughout the evening, and was the "hit" of several homeowners' festivities. One family brought out their own little monster to meet us.
Unfortunately (for Margaret) she'll only be able to enjoy the "all natural fruit chews" from her haul this year. I fully expect Hallowe'en '08 to be a bit more sugar-laden on her part. Until then, Mommy and I will be increasing our likelihood of cavities.
